Twin built a single-story structure of structural steel and load-bearing light-gauge framing. It consisted of a main entrance and reception area, a core administrative area and two wings.
Each wing was constructed to accommodate two different age groups, requiring:
- Two custom-designed playgrounds
- Separate age-appropriate restrooms
- Partitioned play areas
The project also included a private stormwater management facility to handle runoff on the 1.5-acre site.
Twin Contracting successfully completed this project – including custom work and complicated amenities – delivering a safe, attractive facility. |

Overview:
Belmont T.V., an Alexandria retail business, engaged Twin Contracting to construct a new “skin” for this 1950s-era retail store and to upgrade the site. The project started in late summer – with a “must-finish” deadline of October 31, to accommodate the holiday shopping season.
We constructed a two-story tower with a metal hip roof supported by light-gauge framing, and installed security glass with an extensive EIFS finish. Our team also installed security screens, built a new shipping and receiving entry and made electrical upgrades and site improvements necessary to accommodate our work.
The new canopy provides a warm and welcoming entrance, while the new shipping and receiving entry allows a better work flow.
Twin Contracting modernized the structure on a compressed schedule without interrupting the client’s extensive retail hours. The store gained a contemporary look, a secure interior, and an efficient floorplan – all in time to welcome holiday shoppers. |

Overview:
Belle View employed Twin Contracting to construct a new façade for this 1950s strip shopping center. Chosen due to our attractive bid, we were asked to reprice the project after a two-year permitting delay. Through extensive value engineering, we were able to keep the original budget despite inflation and new requirements.
During the renovation, we kept all 37 stores in operation by:
- Building protective tunnels to make customer entry easy and safe
- Erecting safety barriers to protect walkways
- Holding weekly meetings with the owner and property manager, who passed critical information to the tenants
Twin’s efficient scheduling and experienced contractors enabled the project to be completed expertly and safely ... in advance of the busy Christmas shopping season. |

Construction included one underground floor and two above-ground levels, serviced by a glass-enclosed elevator. Each level is connected by a ramp engineered for optimal traffic flow.
The pre-cast concrete garage was erected without interrupting hospital activity at the site – in the middle of two parking lots at the hospital’s rear entrance, next to the central power plant and adjacent to the loading dock.
We completed the project within the 9-month schedule, providing both cost savings and a hassle-free process. |

Overview:
Twin Contracting was chosen by Inova Health System, a long-term client, to construct a two-story medical office building.
Our team worked with Fairfax County officials to resolve permitting delays; as construction began, we also overcame poor soil conditions to ensure a solid foundation.
We constructed a brick building in a modified Georgian style with bar joist and metal pan floor construction. Some of the elements were:
- Lobby and two staircases
- Gear-driven elevator
- Fire alarms with voice communications for the handicapped
- Full sprinkler system
Twin also constructed a parking lot for 35 cars and made improvements to nearby public roads for easy access.
Once construction was complete, we completed tenant buildouts for multiple practices: waiting rooms, reception desks and business offices, exam rooms, doctors’ offices and support areas.
Twin accommodated the needs of the client and multiple tenants, overcoming soil conditions and permitting delays to deliver on time and on budget. |
