Overview:

Arlington County officials decided to transform the basement floor of a 30-year-old office building into a teen parenting center. As Twin Contracting has extensive experience with specialty renovations, we were able to submit the most attractive bid.

We constructed a suite of varied areas:

  • Traditional classrooms
  • A kitchen where students could learn the basics of nutrition and food preparation
  • A laundry area where teens could practice caring for garments and fabrics
  • Rooms for one-on-one interviews
The kitchen and laundry room looked similar to those in an individual house or apartment, yet were equipped to withstand high traffic and frequent use. Other industrial-grade additions were a new electrical panel, plumbing, and sprinkler upgrades for added fire safety. Throughout the center we supplied new drywall, flooring, carpeting and tile. Twin also performed work on the exterior entry so students could have safe access directly from the parking lot, installing new glass, safety lighting and a security system. We kept the project on schedule and on budget. The Arlington County school system was pleased with the results, appreciating the fast turnaround and smooth process.
